Selendra Font for Mythical Branding and Storytelling Websites
Selendra in a Hero Section for a Folklore-Themed Online Store
I was working on a boutique online store that sells handcrafted jewelry inspired by ancient myths and legends. The client wanted a brand identity that felt timeless yet modern, and I knew the right font could make all the difference. That’s when I first tested Selendra, a Display font inspired by the Ancient Indonesian Kawi Script. Its flowing curves and elegant structure made it perfect for a hero section with a mythical theme.
When I placed Selendra over an image of a glowing forest, the title “Jewels of the Ancients” stood out beautifully without overpowering the background. It had enough weight to command attention but still felt harmonious with the soft textures in the image. This kind of balance is crucial for any website header or banner, especially when you want to tell a story at first glance.
Selendra for Blog Headers and Mythology-Inspired Content
Next, I used Selendra for blog headers on the same site. Each post was about a different mythological creature or legend from around the world. The font’s unique character set, which includes glyphs reminiscent of the Kawi Script, added a touch of authenticity and cultural depth to the content.
It wasn’t just about aesthetics—readability was key. On mobile screens, Selendra scaled well without losing its elegance. I paired it with a clean sans serif font for body copy, which kept the design modern while allowing the headlines to shine. This font pairing helped maintain visual hierarchy and improved scanning behavior for users browsing through the blog archives.
The result? A more engaging reading experience that aligned with the brand’s storytelling mission. Readers seemed to linger longer on the posts, and the overall tone of the site felt more immersive and trustworthy.
Selendra in Call-to-Action Areas and Product Descriptions
For the product pages, I experimented with using Selendra in call-to-action areas. Since the brand focused on storytelling, I wanted the CTA buttons to feel like part of the narrative. Instead of generic phrases like “Buy Now,” I used “Uncover the Legend” as a button label, styled with Selendra. It felt more inviting and aligned with the brand’s voice.
However, I quickly realized that Selendra wasn’t ideal for long paragraphs or small buttons. Its decorative nature made it better suited for short phrases, titles, and accents rather than dense blocks of text. So I reserved it for section headings, product titles, and promotional banners, while using a more legible font for product descriptions and feature lists.
This approach helped keep the layout consistent and professional, ensuring that the user experience remained smooth across all devices and screen sizes.
Selendra for a Coaching Website with a Mystical Theme
I later used Selendra on a coaching website where the founder specialized in personal development through ancient wisdom and folklore. The goal was to create a digital space that felt both inspiring and grounded in tradition.
In this case, Selendra worked exceptionally well for the main navigation and landing page headline. The font’s connection to the Kawi Script gave the site a sense of authenticity and cultural richness that resonated with the target audience. I also used it sparingly in the footer for a “Learn More” link, which felt like a natural extension of the brand’s mystical vibe.
To ensure readability, I made sure there was enough contrast between the font and the background. On dark backgrounds, Selendra looked stunning, but I always included a subtle drop shadow or stroke to prevent it from blending into the page.
Selendra for Digital Brand Kits and Campaign Pages
As I expanded my work with Selendra, I started incorporating it into digital brand kits for clients who needed consistent typography across multiple platforms. Whether it was for social media graphics, email newsletters, or campaign landing pages, Selendra brought a unique flair that stood out in a crowded digital landscape.
One of the most effective uses was in a campaign landing page for a new book launch. The title “Echoes of the Past” was rendered in Selendra, and it immediately captured the essence of the story. The font’s connection to the Kawi Script made the campaign feel more authentic and visually compelling.
I also made sure to check the available styles and weights before finalizing the design. Selendra offered several variations that allowed for flexibility in different sections of the page. From bold headlines to lighter subheadings, each style contributed to a cohesive and polished look.
Finally, I confirmed that the font had proper webfont support and commercial licensing so that the client could use it confidently across their entire digital ecosystem, from their website to marketing materials.
